Zinc is in short supply globally because of how incredibly powerful it is at REDUCING VIRAL LOAD. Health experts around the world are touting it’s efficacy to help fend of the coronavirus and it’s used in part of a treatment protocol because it helps oxygen enter the cell, and it’s the only thing that can do this – hence the world shortage!
So what’s so great about zinc orotate? Glad you asked – lots! Orotates are mineral salts of orotic acid, used by plants and animals to make DNA and RNA. Orotate salts, being neutrally charged, pass easily through cell membranes. In effect, orotate ferries the mineral atoms into cells and tissues, producing higher concentrations.
Zinc orotate is used to treat symptoms of zinc deficiency such as:
- low testosterone levels
- cardiovascular disease
- atrophy of the thymus gland
- low white blood cell counts
- lowered immunity
Zinc also plays a vital role in immune function, where deficiency is associated with atrophy of the thymus, reduction in white blood cell counts, and increased susceptibility to infection. Zinc deficiency is known to be associated with an increased prevalence of coronary artery disease as well as diabetes, and with several associated risk factors including:
- Hypertension (high blood pressure)
- Hypertriglyceridemia (raised triglyceride levels)
- Insulin resistance (leading to metabolic syndrome, obesity, diabetes)
Sounds like a drug to make you feel more amorous – but it’s nothing of the sort. In humans and other organisms, orotic acid is synthesized by the enzyme dihydroorotate dehydrogenase which converts dihydroorotate to orotic acid. This is important because it has been found that orotic acid improves the metabolism of folic acid and vitamin B12. Hugely important for good health!!
Some research scientists have now named orotic acid as vitamin B13 as it:
- Assists the metabolism of vitamins B9 (folic acid) and B12
- Improves absorption of calcium and magnesium
- Required for the production of DNA and RNA
